Bad Queries Lead to Bad Results
If you’re not sure of exactly what you’re looking for or you choose your words poorly, AI will not serve you well. Most AI engines are best approached with a clear plan in mind and a clear understanding of what you would like the outcome to be. We’ve found that providing individual steps and requesting AI to let us know if they understand before giving the next instruction has helped, or asking the engine to repeat what we have asked them to do before they do it. When it comes to providing information to AI, more is always better.
If you still receive a bad result from your query, ask AI why it came to that conclusion and provide specific instructions to help its result align with what you’re looking for.
AI Isn’t Always Right
This may be obvious to some, but always double check whatever results AI gives you. We’ve found inaccuracies in copy, incorrect character counts (even when we specify), and more. Do not be afraid to double check all information or provide the engine with more information if you need.
The Best AI Tools for SEO
Over the last year, we have developed a handful of favorite AI tools for our work. Check out these our favorites, useful for SEO and digital marketing strategists alike.
ChatGPT – Our Favorite Tool for Conversational Content & Technical SEO
As one of the most prominent players in the AI field, ChatGPT is an excellent tool for conversational or short-form content, as well as technical SEO. If you’re looking for a blog summary, clever CTAs, or social media copy, ChatGPT is the tool for you. It can also be useful for technical SEO, as it is one of the more customizable chat AI tools. Our team has found it specifically useful for creating schema. However, it is important to keep in mind that the free version of ChatGPT (3.5) only has access to data up to January 2022.
Gemini – The Best AI Tool for Content SEO & Research
Gemini is another one of the more well-known AI chatbot tools. Gemini is particularly useful from an SEO perspective as it is Google’s AI app. It is able to draw information from the internet in real time and even will pull in relevant articles to answer your questions, making it an incredibly useful tool when doing content research. When it comes to drafting long form, search engine optimized content, Gemini is a great tool. It seems to grasp what keywords are and how to work them in more organically than other AI chatbots, which also makes it excellent at writing meta titles and descriptions.
SEMRush – Jack-of-All-Trades AI Tool
SEMRush is a must-have tool for all SEO strategists, but you may not be familiar with its collection of AI tools, both free and paid. Their AI Writing Assistant is easily the most renowned, but they also offer tools to assist with Google Ads, accessibility, GA4 insights, and more. While our team has not explored much of SEMRush’s AI tools, we will definitely be digging into these more to see what value they can add for our clientele.
SurferSEO – Best AI Tool for Competitive Research
If you’re looking for ways to measure up against your competition on the SERP, SurferSEO is the AI tool for you. SurferSEO will rank your content and measure it against competitors for the query you want to rank for. It will recommend the number of paragraphs, images, and more that you should have. While we don’t recommend taking this tool’s word as gospel, it can be useful when taking a wider look at how your content could improve.
AIPRM – Reusable AI Prompts Plug-In Tool
It can be difficult to crack the code to the perfect AI prompt. With AIPRM, a ChatGPT plug-in, you have access to thousands of free and trusted prompts. This can help you save time on figuring out the perfect way to ask ChatGPT for a meta description or FAQ schema. It is definitely recommended to still verify that information is correct and to tweak prompts to your liking, but this tool erases hours of testing.
ChatTube – Easily Summarize Videos with This AI Tool
If you’re the type of person who dreads watching long form videos and would much prefer a blog post, ChatTube is the AI Chrome plug-in for you. This can also be helpful for those who would like to have a set of notes to refer to later after watching an SEO training video, for example. ChatTube will allow you to “chat” with any Youtube videos; you can ask questions, receive summarized notes, and much more.
Otter.AI – Your New Favorite AI Tool for Meeting Notes
Never take notes again with Otter.AI. This tool is a must-have in all of our company meetings; it joins Zoom meetings and generates transcripts, automated summaries, and action items. Otter.AI’s chat feature allows you to talk to Otter.AI and request information from previous meetings, such as the main takeaways from your meetings on Monday or what you need to prepare for your follow-up meeting. This tool is incredibly helpful for client meetings, cross-team huddles, and more.
